Rice Pudding for Easy Dessert

Having some dinner party with friends, but don't know what to offer for dessert? Rice Pudding is the best solution. Why? Easy to make, easy ingredients, and almost 95% people who try it first time love it and demand for more! I don't know exactly where this dishes come from, but my guess is from India. Anyone know better than me? Just leave your comment later :)

First, ingredients. Well, almost every houses in Australia must have it in their house, so this is good for last minute dessert if you don't prepare anything beforehand.
- 1 cup of rice (short-medium-long grain or even jasmine rice is fine, i prefer medium since i love short fatty rice)
- 2 cup of water
- 2 cup of milk (milk is so cheap in Australia, that's why every house must have at least a bottle of milk in their fridge)
- 1/2 cup of sugar (or 3/4, well it is a dessert, sweet IS A MUST!!!)
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 table spoon of butter
- 1 tea spoon of cinnamon powder
- 1 tea spoon of vanilla extract / syrup (anything for the aroma)

Well, you might be don't have cinnamon or vanilla extract, but this is quite important ingredients, so grab a car key and go to nearest supermarket and grab some! Hehehe...

Okay, lets start!
First, boil the water, after the water is boiling, put the rice in (ahhh don't forget to always wash the rice before use). Using high-heat, keep on stirring so the rice won't stuck at the bottom of your pot. This is easy dishes but really need your patience while you work on it.

Keep stirring until only 10% water left on the pot, just like a plain porridge.

Then you can put 2 cup of milk in, still in high heat and keep stirring. Never leave the rice more than 1 minute without stirring, do not let the rice stuck and burnt at the bottom of your pot. But if somehow they stuck, don't scratch it, leave it, you really don't want to ruin the rest of your rice pudding.

Once it boiled, you can reduce the heat into medium heat, put the sugar in, and still keep stirring until it's nice and shiny and a little bit less watery.

If you see the rice already looks like the picture above, you can put vanilla, and cinnamon powder, also the beaten egg, and melted butter in. Usually I always mix these 4 ingredients before hand, so when the rice is ready, i just put it in little by little while my other hand keep stirring the rice.

Complete the task by stiring evenly, and enjoy~ You can serve it warm or cold.
